Cordoba Province, Argentina
Because anglers are usually chasing birds when they are not chasing fish, we think it is extremely important to have the best wingshooting options available to our clients. If you are a bird hunter look no further than Argentina. The province of Cordoba is home to the best and most consistent bird hunting on the planet. The majority of our clients make the trek to Cordoba for the high volume dove shooting, however we can arrange hunts for pigeon, perdiz and ducks as well. Our Argentine bird hunts offers a wonderful mixture of world-class shooting, beautiful countryside, amazing wine, fabulous cuisine, and five star accommodations.
In our experience, the Argentine hunting or fishing experience is as much of a cultural eye-opener as it is a hunting or fishing trip. The country is enormous and diverse, the people are beautiful, the wine and cuisine is the best you’ll ever taste, the countryside is gorgeous, and the hospitality and service is unmatched. All Argentine trips are equally remembered for the unique wildlife sightings, a few days in beautiful Buenos Aires, the scenery, and all the amazing people met; as they are for the remarkable sporting experiences. I’d personally schedule a trip for the beef, wine, mate tea, and chimichurri sauce alone!
Hate to be the barer of bad news, but the good old days in "ole Mexico" are not like they used to be. For the same money Argentina offers 100X times the birds and a much more unique and memorable hunting and traveling experience. Despite bad press (usually false) and recent political turmoil, the country is still totally safe, vibrant, and as exciting as ever. In fact the only difference we have noted is that the American dollar goes a lot further these days!
Northern Argentina is home to thousands of acres of agricultural production, and arguably the world’s best wingshooting for numerous upland and waterfowl species. The province of Cordoba (northwest of Buenos Aires) has rightfully earned the reputation as the best dove shooting in the world. No other venue found anywhere offers such an enormous population of eared doves easily accessible to intrepid hunters. North of Buenos Aires in the province of Goya, also known as one of the planet’s best locations for hunting waterfowl and the upland bird perdiz. Together, these two locations provide Miles and Miles with the ultimate playground to run their flawless operation.
After ten years of traveling the world chasing fish and birds, we believe there is no other sporting activity as leisurely or as action packed as a few days with brothers Nicolas and Richard Miles hunting birds. Combine the quality of the shooting with first-rate accommodations, superior service, fine wine, and Argentine cuisine; you come up with one of the most memorable trips you will ever take.
Nick and Dick Miles welcome corporate outings, family gathering, rambunctious groups of bachelors, and slower paced couples at their facilities. Every group is tended to with great care and every request is honored. We feel strongly that the quality of the personal service offered by the Miles brother is on par with the best hunting and fishing outfits in the world…and our average of fifty guests a year all agree. In the words of Nick Miles, “You can do anything you want. This is Argentina!”.
The Cordoba province of Argentina enjoys a delightful climate that provides perfect conditions for extensive corn, sorghum, wheat and peanut production. This food, in combination with dense hillside roosting areas has produced a population of eared doves estimated to be 20+ million birds (birds that reproduce up to five times annually). Shooters may find themselves hunting over a remote and dense hillside roost, a grain field, or a water hole. The Miles brothers have long term, exclusive leases with over one hundred farmers and landowners in the area. This plentiful access guarantees rested shooting grounds and the best hunting in the province. There is rarely a moment when shooters don’t have an opportunity to pull the trigger. Numerous clients every week boast of killing over one thousand, sometimes two thousand birds a day! This is true “high volume” dove shooting.
Dove hunting guests typically awake around 7:00AM for breakfast and are driven to one of the hunting areas in air-conditioned Mercedes vans and new model Toyota sport-utility vehicles. Hunters typically spend the entire day in the field with an enormous lunch and siesta breaking up the morning and afternoon shoots. Lunches consist of grilled doves, prime rib, beef tenderloin, chicken, fine wine, and cold drinks. After lunch or "asado", shooters nap or read in a hammock nestled under a stand of trees. Guests may ask Nick Miles to arrange a lovely masseuse to give massages in the field during lunch. The procedures for bringing guns from the U.S. are painless, and Miles and Miles will happily provide ammunition for 12, 20, 28, and .410 shotguns. Guests who are not interested in bringing their own guns are welcome to rent quality Benelli, Beretta, and Browning guns in several different makes and models.
A cooler of cold beer, soft drinks, and water, along with a local bird boy is set up every hunt with each shooter. All aspects of the operation are meticulously arranged; airport transfers in comfortable vehicles, sumptuous meals with robust wines, expert field assistance, well-organized shell distribution and pick up boys, in-house professional masseuse---plus attention to the many behind-the-scenes small details that define a world class destination.
Argentine bird hunts are the ideal "guys' trip" as well as a great getaway for the family. Our Argentine hosts go above and beyond to accommodate all requests for any type of group. These "shoots" can be as laissez-faire or as hard-core as you would like to be. One thing's for sure, there are no lack of targets. Shooters can easily shoot over one thousand dove a day without too much effort, and a few crazy guests shot over 3000 birds in one day! That's a heck of a shell bill!
Shooters in Cordoba with Miles and Miles Outfitters stay at one of two ranch house facilities, Estancia Catalina or Estancia Del Pilar. Catalina is a ten-bedroom masterpiece facility completed in September 2006. The facility is modeled in style and architecture after the area’s 19th century Estancias, yet still equipped with all the comforts of a modern five star hotel. Meals and cocktails are taken in a high ceiling great room with trophy game animals decorating the walls. Estancia Catalina is without questions the most fabulous accommodation in the province of Cordoba.
The cuisine is amazing, and all guests should go prepared to be served huge portions of Argentine beef, pork, and lamb. A fully stocked bar and fine Argentine wine is also a part of every meal. Numerous sitting rooms and lounging areas are also used by guests, including a room set up with massage tables and a professional staff of female masseuses. Bedrooms are of course appointed with private bathrooms and air conditioning, and designed with several outdoor patios for enjoying a cocktail or watching a sunset.
Estancia Catalina is approximately one hour from the Cordoba international airport and holds a maximum of twenty shooters at a time in ten double occupancy bedrooms. Groups of only eight are required to operate the facility exclusive for individual groups. Shooting areas are anywhere from fifteen minutes to an hour, far more convenient and competitive than hunting with Miles and Miles’ limited competitors in the area.
10 Double Occupancy Bedrooms
8 Person Minimum for Exclusive Use of Facility

Dove shooting is offered year-round. You must remember that the seasons are reversed in the southern hemisphere. Argentina's winter corresponds with our summer, our spring with their fall, etc. The province of Cordoba are in northern Argentina at low altitude, and on the identical southerly latitude as central Texas. As a result the climate is actually very similar to ours here in Texas where hot summers and mild winters are typical for the region. Daytime temperatures for a January, February, and March dove hunt in Cordoba range from the 60's to well into the 90's. Wintertime (May - August) temperatures range from the 40's to the 70's, with brief cold spells on occasion.
Although shooting is the predominant activity with Miles and Miles, the staff is more than happy to accommodate non-shooting guests. Non-shooting guests may enjoy golf, horseback riding, or escorted tours and shopping in Cordoba City.
Our people on the ground in Buenos Aires handle every aspect of your ground transportation and customs assistance. They can also assist us in planning an extra few days in the wonderful capital of Buenos Aires. “B.A.” is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and is well worth adding a few days to the dove shooting portion of your itinerary.
