David Leake  
Co-Owner & Travel Department Director

David Leake has over a decade of experience in the fly fishing travel and retail industry. His daily duties mainly revolve around managing the travel department at Tailwaters. David is also the chief editor of the Tailwaters website, newsletters, catalogs, marketing, and pre-trip materials. David has traveled throughout the world developing our travel offerings. These destinations include, but are not limited to, Alaska, Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Seychelles, Venezuela, and of course all through the United States.  David is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and has two children, Lynsie and Patrick, with his wife, Melissa. 

Brent Boone
Co-Owner 

 Brent is originally from the small West Texas town of Follett, a convenient launching pad for his lengthy summers on the river in southern Colorado. Brent graduated from Texas Tech University in 1993 and immediately moved to Dallas to begin his professional career. His business career was highlighted by 10 years in the commercial real estate industry. Brent's entrepreneurial spirit and general business experience is an enormous asset to Tailwaters. In addition to the day-to-day routine at the shop, Brent is also becoming an integral part of the travel department as well.

Travis Moore
General Manager & Retail Specialist

Travis was born and raised in here in Texas, and has fished everywhere from Idaho to Xcalak, Mexico. His fly fishing journey began in the clear limestone streams of the Texas hill country while he was a student at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. After graduating from college in 2003 he joined the team at Blue Drake Outfitters in Dallas, and has been a fixture in the local fly fishing scene ever since. Travis is an FFF Certified Casting Instructor and the Operations Manager here at Tailwaters. He wears a lot of hats around here and his responsibilities range from buying product and managing our inventory to giving casting lessons and helping customers on the floor. 

Matt Jones
Graphic Designer & Web Manager

Matt Jones is a Texas grown media geek and fly fishing enthusiast. Combined with fly fishing and the great outdoors, his photography and graphic design reveal Tailwaters' voice visually to better reach the world of fly fishing and it's people. His goal is to display the message that Tailwaters is one of the finest shops in the country, if not the world! Matt is also the founder of Twintail Clothing Co. bringing the industry a fresh, edgy style of clothing for all anglers.

Most days, Matt is locked in his cave where he shoots product images, edits photos, designs marketing emails, and prepares layouts. He also runs the Tailwaters e-commerce website in it's entirety. If you place an order you will be contacted quickly to ensure the highest customer service, anywhere!

Sadie Thacker
Backroom Manager & Travel Assistant

If you have called the shop recently, you cannot help but notice a gentile ladylike voice answer the phone.  A Wichita Falls native, and recent Texas Longhorn grad, Sadie is our new backroom manager. Her tender demeanor, wonderful sense of humor, and real smarts and organization make her a welcome addition to our staff. Sadie’s  responsibilities include helping with inventory management, e-commerce, assisting in the travel department, and generally making sure we all behave. She also aspires to give women’s casting lessons and expand on our ladies inventory. Sadie is throwing tight loops and gets along well with all the boys. We could not be more excited to have her on board – and look forward to many years with her at the helm as our “House Mom”.

Ron Foster
Retail Specialist & Casting/Fly Tying Instructor

Ron Foster is our loveable part time and weekend help. Ron has been fly fishing for thirty years and worked for Orvis Company in Dallas for ten years before joining our team in 2007. Ron has fished all over the world and offers incredible enthusiasm and a welcoming presence on the sales floor.
