Saturday Morning Intro Class

Geared towards beginners with little to no experience, our Introduction to Fly Fishing Class covers the fundamentals of casting, demonstrates how to play, fight, and land a fish, walks through basic gear assembly techniques, and shows you how to tie a few knots – all in only 2 hours! You’ll leave with the skills and knowledge to build a solid, starting foundation for your angling journey. Intro classes are seasonally offered on select Saturday mornings.

Intro Fly Fishing School
Finally, the water we’ve always wanted! Being an urban shop, the dilemma we have faced is finding quality fishing water close to Dallas. We have always wanted lots of water, loaded with fish, fly fishing friendly, and close by. After many years, we’ve found our perfect match!

The 2500 acre 77 Ranch is just one hour south of Dallas near the town of Blooming Grove. This award winning ranch has been transformed back into native Blackland Prairie and is reminiscent of Texas past. The ranch boast 5 lakes stocked and managed with Florida strain bass, along with numerous smaller ponds loaded with a variety of warm water species.

This 4 hour class is geared towards teaching you casting, hooking, and landing fish from the bank and boat. We will begin with a one hour classroom session that will dive into equipment, knots, and the basics of fly fishing. We will also spend an hour learning the basic casts needed to fish. The last two hours are spent putting everything to use while catching fish on the various lakes and ponds.

We will provide all the necessary gear, as well as lunch and drinks.

$350 per student

Watching a popper disappear off the surface and feeling your line go tight as old buckmouth swipes your fly, is one of the best things you can do with a fly rod in Texas. The great thing about Texas is the ample opportunities to fish for bass with a fly rod. They’re everywhere! Join us at the 77 Ranch as we teach you how to chase bass on the fly!

Our expert instructors will teach you the ins and outs of bass fishing with the fly rod. We’ll teach casting, retrieving, hooking, and landing from bank and boat. We’ll dive into equipment; rods, reels, lines, and flies. The best part is, we have access to several lakes stocked and managed to provide top notch fly fishing action close to Dallas.

Our school will start in the morning with a short classroom session to cover equipment. We’ll move on to casting and then head to the water to put everything to use. Equipment, lunch, and drinks provided.
