Destination Description

Located just thirty minutes south of Marsh Harbour on Abaco Island, The Delphi Club is the perfect destination both for someone getting their feet wet on their first saltwater fly fishing trip, as well as the veteran angler looking to experience the best of the Bahamas. Delphi Club’s secluded beachfront property offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean with a relaxed atmosphere and unmatched service and accommodations.

Delphi Club sets a new standard when it comes to accommodations and guest comfort. The lodge has eight rooms in total, and offers rooms with either a king sized bed or double queens.

While this is an angling destination – Delphi Club is a fantastic operation to consider for those bringing spouses or non-angling companions. The infinity swimming pool, comfortable lounging area, and full wraparound porch are a perfect place to enjoy a nice relaxing day. Their top notch guide staff are some of the best in the Bahamas, and Delphi Club’s Hell’s Bay Professional skiffs ensure access to shallow flats while also providing maximum comfort.

The Delphi Club’s location on the island allows for easy access to some of our favorite fishing in the Abacos. Within a thirty minute drive, you can be on your skiff fishing in the west side of the Island better known as the Marls, the very southern tip at Sandy Point, or Cherokee Sound which is just a quick ride from the lodge. All offer incredible bonefishing opportunities, both wading and from the skiff. The lodge sits up on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and has its own private beach at Rolling Harbour. Abaco is one of the most accessible islands in the Bahamas with direct flights from the U.S. Don’t confuse the convenience in travel as a compromise to the quality of the fishing! The Delphi Club has an incredible multi-species fishery, and a staff of veteran and energetic guides that prove to put their guests on permit, tarpon, barracuda, and of course, bonefish!

FISHING

The Delphi Club’s location allows easy access to the infamous Marls, Sandy Point, and Cherokee Sound. On a typical day, guides will trailer the boat to various launches 15 - 30 minute drive time. On the west side of the Island, the guides will launch at various locations in the Marls, from Marsh Harbor all the way down to Sandy Point, with boat runs anywhere from 10 – 30 minutes. The Marls offers a vast variety of flats, mangroves, and large numbers of bonefish. It’s suited for all skill levels and angling experience. The sheltered Marls are home to tremendous numbers of healthy and unpressured bonefish in the 2-4lb range with the occasional 5-8lb fish. There are LOTS of tailing fish in the seemingly endless shallow water. Permit and juvenile tarpon are a fairly regular sighting, so an extra rod or two rigged for these species isn’t a bad idea to have on board!

ACCOMMODATIONS

Delphi Club sets a new standard when it comes to accommodations and guest comfort. With a maximum occupancy of sixteen guests, the lodge has eight private rooms in total, all with air conditioning and wifi. While this is an angling destination, Delphi Club is also a fantastic operation to consider for those bringing spouses or non-angling companions. The infinity swimming pool, comfortable lounging area, and full wraparound porch are a perfect place to enjoy a nice relaxing day. After fishing, guests are pampered with rounds of appetizers, cold Kalik beer, and cocktails just before an unforgettable dining experience featuring Bahamian cuisine.

The Delphi Club overlooks the beautiful beach of Rolling Harbour on the east coast of Great Abaco, about half an hour south of Marsh Harbour. Secluded, tranquil, and surrounded by the Abaco wilderness, the lodge stands some fifty feet above sea level and offers panoramic views over the Atlantic. The Club offers some of the best food in the Bahamas. The head chef has worked in Michelin star restaurants and his food is simple, fresh, and delicious, making optimal use of local ingredients. And the Lodge has an exceptional wine list that is very fairly priced.

TRAVEL

Guests travel to Marsh Harbour (MHH) commercially from numerous major airports including Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, W. Palm Beach, Orlando, and New Smyrna. There is even a direct flight from Atlanta. Abaco could not be easier to get to from the U.S. with daily and affordable flights on board major U.S. carriers such as American and United.

Direct flights to Nassau are also available with connections on to Marsh Harbour with Bahamas Air, Sky Bahamas, and Lynxair - as well as private charters with Cherokee Aviation.

With a quick transfer of only thirty minutes from the airport to the lodge, The Delphi Club is one of the easier lodges in the Bahamas to get to.

WHEN TO GO / SEASONALITY

One thing people often neglect when considering a trip to the Bahamas is the weather. The Bahamas are actually in the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean Sea. As a result, the islands are more susceptible to northerly cold fronts than their Caribbean neighbors to the south, as well as being susceptible to tropical storms during hurricane season. Delphi Club is CLOSED August – September. There are a few loose weather guidelines you must consider.

March - July are the prime spring months to fish the Bahamas. Consistently warm (not too hot) weather dominates the forecast.

August and September are peak Hurricane Season months! Lodge is closed.

October and November offer the best time to fish in the fall. Conditions are very similar to March – April type conditions. The winter months can bring cool weather. The fish are of course always there and it is equally as possible to have 80-degree days and little wind. This is a great time for trophy bonefish.

NON-ANGLING ACTIVITIES

Non-angling companions are welcome and encouraged to join fishermen at The Delphi Club. Out of the eight bedrooms, there is a mix of king and double queen size beds to accommodate for shared anglers or shared occupancy for couples. Fishing is the primary activity as a guest at Delphi, but there are plenty of non-angling activities to enjoy around the lodge. Between the infinity pool, multiple lounging areas, and private beach, everyone can find a place to have a nice relaxing day at the lodge. There is also an onsite masseuse to make the day even more relaxing. The lodge overlooks its own private beach in Rolling Harbour and can be a non-anglers' playground with access to kayaks, paddles boards, and snorkeling gear.

Abaco Island has loads of adventurous activities for non-fishing guests to tackle. A naturalist can be hired to give tours for birding and site seeing. Spend a day swimming and feeding the wild pigs at Noname Caye or visit Nunjack Caye to check out a sanctuary of stingrays and sharks. Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay are not too far north and both offer nightlife, restaurants, and shopping. The Delphi Club can assist in organizing snorkeling and diving excursions around other parts of the island as well.
